Connecting in the Cloud: Tech Sessions

Technicians, join us for a new series of Connecting in the Cloud, just for you!  These sessions will be roundtable-type discussions where you can share your experience with fellow technicians.  We're hoping to create a place for you to learn from each other, improve your skills, and help new folks entering the AV world get up to speed.
Jim Spencer from the University of Notre Dame and Kayden Kassof from American University will lead the first installment of this series where we'll talk about TOOLS!  What's your favorite tool and why?  What do you keep in your tool kit?  Are there testers or other specialized equipment you use regularly that really helps you out?
Come meet other technicians from around the country for a lively chat on Thursday, April 22 at 11am Eastern.  Be sure to register through CCUMC to receive the Zoom meeting link.
The Professional Development Committee looks forward to seeing you there!

Save the Date: 2021 Annual Conference

If COVID-19 has taught us anything over the past year, it is that planning for the future requires an abundance of caution, particularly when it comes to events. For many of us, there is light at the end of this pandemic tunnel with vaccinations rolling out and restrictions being lifted. But a year of dealing with the fallout of this pandemic has left some lasting impacts, particularly regarding institutional budgets.

Without a clear picture of how much nationwide travel will change over the next 6 months, and an acknowledgement that money for travel for many of our members will be minimal in the fall, the Board of Directors has made the prudent decision to host the 2021 Annual Conference virtually.

Obviously, this decision was a hard one to make with so many unknown factors. However, after much discussion and deliberation the Board felt it was a necessary to make at this time to provide the current Program Committee the guidance needed to begin planning the 2021 event. The Annual Conference will be held the week of October 11th-15th with the exact dates and format to be determined as the program committee finalizes the program for the event.

The Board is also in the process of seeking out in-person event options for the 2022 Annual Conference and hope to have those details in the coming months.
